Ask web designers! website design is not simple. You may think that the task to land a design in the way you want and that works efficiently is pretty easy. But truth lies some where else. Many-a-times designers get stuck at a point, even after working for hours on a particular design, and it refuses to look right.
Here are few fantastic tactics with which a designer can easily come out of a sticky situation he or she faces while designing a site:
Design from inside out
People often lay emphasis on header but forget to add relevant elements in the body. The elements inside the page actually give it an appealing look. The header is secondary. Just give all attention to the inside body and leave the header aside for a while. You will be surprised to identify that designing a page was never hassle-free once you achieve the solid body. Remember, a header with no body is a big no!
It is always useful to design a rough sketch on a sheet of paper before starting a graphic designing program on your computer. It will help you to identify the right placement of the elements on a page and what best options you can have. Creating mockups will give you a complete idea to put all elements together in the best way.
Seek inspiration offline
Even if you have years of experience in designing and developing, seeking an idea from an offline source is not a bad deal. These can actually be the best source of inspiration. You can either open a newspaper and magazine or go to a grocery store to see in what way the outlay of the packaging is done. This will help you to pay attention to the typography of your design, including color, contrast and element placement. You can get a lot of ideas by merely observing a traditional media.
Learn to let it go
If you make an incredibly awesome looking button but that doesn’t fit into your designed page, learn to let it go. You can enroll the button later on in your future designs. Avoid bending laws of space and alignment to fit the button in your page.
Step away from your computer
If you got stuck somewhere in between, it is always helpful to take a small break. Leaving it isolated for a while and start working after sometime will be always fruitful as your mind has settled by that time and you will return with a lot fresh ideas.
It is always good to look at others’ work and learn the things which inspire you. Try innovatively incorporating those elements into your site. Do not steal their work. However do not deprive yourself from outside stimuli.
Don’t be a one-hit-wonder
Never use the same technique in repetitively even if it is your masterwork. A designer’s happiness coincides with the ability to produce something new and different from the things already done before.
Seek inputs from others
Always seek advice from the people who can criticize constructively and tell you how the things can be improved. If wrong people will be involved with you, a design developed is likely to get ruined.
